Relocation of telephone systems and equipment to new building ‘Due to extensive redevelopment work going on within our site we needed to move our Realitis telephone equipment to another building, whilst at the same time keeping over 2000 extension users on that system working, i.e. business as usual – with minimum downtime. We also needed to move all of the incoming BT lines and maintain our videoconferencing facilities. Siemens, our switch system maintainer, required the new wiring to meet industry standards before they would reconnect the system. Our previous cabling company were unable to meet these standards and when the switch was originally installed Portsmouth Communications Ltd worked many long hours for us to rectify the situation. Therefore it was natural for us to seek Portsmouth Communications’ advice and guidance with this latest challenging project. We knew that all of their employees had many years experience within the telecommunications industry, |
Handling large projects is also second nature to them. They took responsibility for the project and liaised between BT, Siemens and ourselves. The system was moved with a downtime of only 1 hour and 12 faults across over 2000 extensions. These were rectified within 90 minutes of the changeover and therefore from our users point of view service was maintained and business as usual achieved.’ Andy Harman |
