Royal West Sussex NHS Trust - St Richards Hospital(Chichester)
Re-location Computer room to new building.
‘Due to the refurbishment and enlargement of our outpatients’ reception area, we needed to move our main computer room, including all of the associated equipment, to a new location.
The work involved re-routing and terminating fibre, category 5 cabling, electrical work and the provision of a large Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) unit. The equipment was moving 250 metres to a new purpose built location.
As Portsmouth Communications had provided quality advice on our existing voice cabling structure and local area network, we again sought their advice and support. A programme of action was agreed and Portsmouth Communications liaised and arranged for all of the electrical work to be completed, the supply and installation of the UPS and provided additional routes of fibre. This was done in conjunction with the building work taking place and throughout the project we were kept fully informed at every stage. This enabled us to concentrate on other projects.
The simple fact is that Portsmouth Communications made it easy – they provided a managed quality solution within the time frame.
The end result was that the computer room was successfully moved with zero disruption to the hospital.’

Relocation telephone systems and equipment to new building
‘Due to extensive redevelopment work going on within our site we needed to move our Realitis telephone equipment to another building, whilst at the same time keeping over 2000 extension users on that system working, i.e. business as usual – with minimum downtime. We also needed to move all of the incoming BT lines and maintain our videoconferencing facilities.
Siemens, our switch system maintainer, required the new wiring to meet industry standards before they would reconnect the system. Our previous cabling company were unable to meet these standards and when the switch was originally installed Portsmouth Communications Ltd worked many long hours for us to rectify the situation. Therefore it was natural for us to seek Portsmouth Communications’ advice and guidance with this latest challenging project.
We knew that all of their employees had many years experience within the telecommunications industry,
had all been trained to very high standards and were therefore familiar
with working to BS 6701 (a British Standard Code of Practice).
Handling large projects is also second nature to them. They took responsibility for the project and liaised between BT, Siemens and ourselves. The system was moved with a downtime of only 1 hour and 12 faults across over 2000 extensions. These were rectified within 90 minutes of the changeover and therefore from our users point of view service was maintained and business as usual achieved.’

‘Connector Terminal Supplies was established in 1997, but due to expansion of our business we needed to move to larger premises. Busy work schedules and tight timescales gave us little time to organise anything.
As Portsmouth Communications Ltd had previously suggested solutions for voice, data and electrical cabling in another premises, it was logical to seek their advice again. Since starting the business they have always been supportive and understanding, and have always been able to offer excellent advice and guidance.
Following a single meeting on site, in which they were introduced to our builders and briefed on our
plans, we were able to confirm that they could meet the required completion date. Portsmouth Communications installed the data, electrics and Panasonic telephone system, and liaised with BT regarding the transfer of our telephone lines. All of the work was completed and fully tested before we moved in - enabling us to move with the minimal amount of disruption to our business.
